TOWSON AREA FOURTH OF JULY PARADE
THE BIKE RUSH

The Bike Rush leads the Towson Parade.  More than 135
bikes, scooters, wagons and strollers set out on the Parade
route decorated to celebrate America’s Birthday.

The children decorate their bikes with balloons, ribbons,
flags, crepe paper, etc. so their bike is festive, fun and
patriotic.  Parents – don’t forget how much fun you can
have riding with your children.

Bike Rush participants are requested to report to the Towson
University Health Center Parking lot at 9:00 a.m. on the day
of the parade.  The lot is across Burke Ave. from the
Marriott Burkshire Conference Hotel.  Committee members
and volunteers from Trader Joe’s will be on site to assist
with the decorating and forming the group into their
marching unit.

The route is 1.4 miles long.  It begins at Bosley Ave. and
Towsontown Blvd., proceeds north to Allegheny Ave., turns
right and proceeds to Washington Ave. where it makes a
right turn to the end.  The Bike Rush officially ends on the
west side of Susquehanna Ave. (near the Police Towson
Precinct).   Parents should make plans prior to their child
riding of where they will meet them.  It takes approximately
25-30 minutes to complete the route.

If a child becomes lost, parade marshals and police officers
will take the child to the reviewing stage on Washington
Avenue where they can wait for their parents.
